About The Position

The Plumber position at the City of Tucson’s General Services Department maintains, inspects, repairs, and installs plumbing, commercial irrigation, related systems and components at skilled journeyman level for City of Tucson facilities and properties. Work is performed under the supervision of the Plumbing & Fuel Systems Supervisor. This position does not supervise.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four (4) years of directly related experience
  • Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D – Driver License – Arizona Department of Transportation – Motor Vehicle Division

Responsibilities

  • Performs service repairs and plumbing maintenance on water and sewer lines, fuel lines, water heaters, booster pumps, ejector pumps, compressors, and other equipment.
  • Installs and repairs pipes, fittings, valves and other plumbing fixtures such as sinks and toilets.
  • Responds to emergency calls for plumbing systems service repairs and maintenance.
  • Reads blueprints and assesses worksite locations to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with plumbing systems or equipment.
  • Places orders and purchases materials for replacements and repairs of assets of assigned projects.
  • Notes repairs, vendor quotes and assessments related to project job scope along with pictures and other supporting documents.
  • Reconciles procurement card invoice purchases, enters labor charges, and other related data in multiple Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Responds to inquiries via phone calls, emails and in-person site visits concerning maintenance tasks and projects.
  • Attends City of Tucson, safety, department and unit meetings, and other required training related to the safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Optimizes productivity by maintaining the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of assigned vehicles, keeps workspaces organized, and inspects the condition of tool inventory.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repair of building components and systems.
  • Manages inspection and preventative maintenance schedule to ensure compliance with plumbing codes and regulations.
  • Follows safety policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, local and City of Tucson requirements.
  • Assists with plumbing systems preparation for major City of Tucson events.
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
