About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Plumber, Maintenance for Creech Air Force Base. This role involves providing plumbing and Liquid Fuels Maintenance for facilities and infrastructure. The responsibilities include assembling, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures of water and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. The job also entails installing and repairing plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, and dishwashers. Additionally, the role requires repairing and maintaining all plumbing by replacing components in leaky faucets, mixing valves, check valves, and flushometers. The plumber must be capable of mending interior/exterior pipes made of various materials (PVC, PEX, copper, asbestos cement, cast iron, galvanized, and black iron) using methods like soldering, appropriate clamps, threaded, push-to-connect, and mechanical joint fittings. Opening clogged drains using plungers, manual, and power snake machines is also a key duty. The position requires maintaining all plumbing and pipe fitting systems and associated components to be operational according to the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC). Perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks for equipment and buildings. Government certifications, skills, and knowledge for plumbing and liquid fuels maintenance are required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience as a plumber, acquired through training and/or experience under a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Must be willing achieve certifications according to government requirements.
  • Must have a valid Nevada driver’s license.
  • Must be able to listen with comprehension to assist customers with problems.
  • Ability to use good judgment and common sense when performing job functions.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to be punctual.
  • Patience to work under sometimes stressful conditions.
  • Lifting of weight up to seventy (70) pounds is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance, Secret.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial driver’s license would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Works with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Can read and decipher plumbing maps/blueprints to locate various plumbing devices such as valves, sewer manholes, fire hydrants, clean outs, etc.
  • Respond to service calls within the allowable time frame.
  • Participation in Quality Control and Safety Program.
  • Must adhere to the Lockout/Tag Out and Fall Protection Program.
  • Perform daily checks on company provided vehicle.
  • Repair and maintain Water Distribution systems in accordance with local environmental management quality standards to include water treatment equipment, backflow prevention devices, and cathodic protection IAW applicable Government and local regulations.
  • Repair and maintain sewage lines, lift stations and septic tank systems IAW applicable local and Government regulations.
  • Maintain and repair underground and aboveground Petroleum, Oils, and Lubricants (POL) system tanks in accordance with all local and Governmental regulations.
  • Repair and maintain, test, and inspect wet, dry pipe and deluge fire suppression systems in accordance with all environmental policies and regulations.
  • Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of water and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
  • Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
  • Locate and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level and plumb bob.
  • Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe threading machine.
  • Bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending by hand.
  • Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel brass and copper, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic, using hand tools, power tools and soldering equipment.
  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, and dishwashers.
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing components in leaky faucets, mixing valves, check valves, flushometers as well as other plumbing related items.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Completing all training requirements and fulfilling all self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks and serving on safety committees and teams.
  • Conform to the Amentum Quality Policy and carry out job activities in compliance with applicable Amentum Quality System documents and customer contracts.
  • Read and understand his/her Quality Management and Customer Satisfaction responsibilities.
