About The Position

St. Edward's University is currently searching for a journeyman plumber. This position is primarily responsible for performing skilled maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing.

Requirements

Journeyman Plumber License
A minimum of three years related experience including demonstrable experience in maintenance plumbing.
Knowledge of troubleshooting/repair of Sloan flush meters and Delta tub/shower valves.
Must be willing to be licensed in backflow prevention and fire hydrant testing.
Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and be insurable by the university carrier.
Must be able to read, interpret, and work from blueprints and prepare rough sketches of work to be performed.
Prior use of jackhammers, sewer auger, pipe threading machine, and miscellaneous plumbing hand and power tools required.
Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check is required.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of gas/electric welding preferred.

Responsibilities

Installation and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures
Operation and maintenance of pumps and water distribution systems, hot and cold-water systems and similar components, and water wells.
Maintenance and repair of potable water systems, sewer lift stations, laboratory water (deionized water) systems, emergency fire lines and hydrants, backflow preventers, and water wells.
Testing of completed work and conducting necessary adjustments
Performs periodic inspections of systems for safe and efficient operation
Development of material, labor, and total costs estimate of repair and installation jobs
Creates reports that detail the time and materials required to repair and maintain equipment
System operation record maintenance
May direct others on major installations and repair jobs.
Responsible for regulatory and policy compliance as it applies to the position.
Maintain confidentiality.
