About The Position

The Facilities Management Department provides comprehensive facilities services including property management and maintenance for all properties and buildings owned by the St. Johns Board of County Commissioners. The department delivers the full spectrum of facilities management services for approximately 2 million square feet of County facilities. These properties range from general administrative offices, and judicial facilities to library and recreational facilities. In addition, the department provides in-house small construction services and project management of building repairs and renovations. The program’s goal is to ensure that County buildings and facilities reliably and efficiently perform the functions for which they were designed and constructed throughout their service life. The newly selected Plumber will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems in County buildings and facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent recognized certification.
  • Possession of a valid State of Florida or St Johns County Class I Master Plumber License or a Plumber Masters License from another State or Florida County.
  • Demonstrated competence and successful work performance at the Plumber II (Journeyman’s) level of experience and competency in the field with a minimum of ten years of full-time work experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to serve others.
  • Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language.
  • Must be able to operate a computer.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and repairs faucets, valves, water fountains, bathroom fixtures, hot water heaters, and pumps.
  • Installs and repairs piping systems.
  • Installs and repairs backflow systems.
  • Installs, maintains and repairs lift stations.
  • Locates, evaluates and repairs under slab leaks.
  • Installs water services.
  • Operates a sewer machine to open clogged waste lines.
  • Coordinates activities with contractors.
  • Interprets mechanical and structural building plans to troubleshoot plumbing issues and plan system modifications.
  • Installs and repairs irrigation systems.
  • Maintains a full-time presence on the job.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
