About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Plumber II to install, maintain, alter, and repair plumbing systems and components at the journey level of the plumbing trade. This role reports directly to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor IV and is crucial for maintaining the facility's infrastructure. The position is located at the Albemarle Correctional Institution, a medium custody facility housing up to 856 male offenders.

Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the repair, replacement, or construction of piping systems
Or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
May require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.

Working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, alter, and repair plumbing systems and components at the journey level of the plumbing trade.
Possess working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of commercial plumbing, as well as safety precautions of the plumbing trade.
Use power tools associated with the plumbing trade, cut and thread pipe, utilize motorized and mechanical tools, and be familiar with building, life, and safety codes.
Solder copper pipe and utilize the standard tools and materials required for those types of procedures.
Make material list(s) for projects and submit to supervisor for review.
Make up lead joints and install various types of plastic pipe.
Replace stainless steel and porcelain plumbing fixtures.
Supervise semi-skilled male offenders.
