About The Position

Reporting directly to Facility Maintenance Supervisor IV, the primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain, alter, and repair plumbing systems and components at the journey level of the plumbing trade. This role involves performing journey level duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air, gas, water, and waste disposal systems. Assignments may involve work of a special or unusual nature requiring specific instructions. The position utilizes power tools associated with the plumbing trade, including cutting and threading pipe, and motorized and mechanical tools, while adhering to building, life, and safety codes. Responsibilities include soldering copper pipe, making material lists for projects, making up lead joints, installing various types of plastic pipe, and replacing stainless steel and porcelain plumbing fixtures. The role also involves supervising semi-skilled male offenders and being subject to emergency call back.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the repair, replacement, or construction of piping systems
  • Or An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of plumbing systems
  • May require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.

Responsibilities

  • Performing journey level duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air, gas, water, and waste disposal systems.
  • Routinely working assignments where repair is needed and assignments that involve work of special or unusual nature, which are accompanied by specific instructions.
  • Using power tools associated with plumbing trade, cutting and threading pipe, utilizing motorized and mechanical tools, and familiar with building, life, and safety codes.
  • Soldering copper pipe and utilizing the standard tools and materials required for those types of procedures.
  • Making material list(s) for projects and submitting to supervisor for review.
  • Making up lead joints and installing various types of plastic pipe, also knowledge in replacing stainless steel and porcelain plumbing fixtures.
  • Supervising semi-skilled male offenders and subject to emergency call back.
