This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health (OMH) Crafts -Farrow , 7901 Farrow Rd, Columbia, SC 29203. Under minimal supervision, you will perform trade related duties of complex difficulty specializing in the plumbing trade area to provide a safe environment and humane atmosphere for residents and staff in a multi-building health care agency. Duties will be performed at Northeast campus or Columbia campus.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a high school diploma.
  • At least two (2) years of experience performing complex installation, maintenance and/or repair of plumbing systems and/or training directly related to the area of employment.
  • A valid SC drivers license.
  • Must have one (1) year driving experience without a moving violation.
  • Work in a variety of environments
  • Lift over 50 pounds, climb ladders, sit, stand, squat, kneel and crawl unassisted
  • Work overtime and participate in on-call rotation
  • Working knowledge of the methods, tools equipment commonly used in the plumbing trade
  • Ability to maintain detailed records on materials needed and used, good communication skills, ability to follow oral and written instructions and a bility to perform heavy manual labor
  • Ability to work independently and work well with others
  • Compassion for mentally and/or physically handicapped individuals
  • Follow routine safety practices and standards

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures such as commodes, sinks, wax seals, flush valves, faucets, drain and supply lines, pipe assemblies, fittings, valves dishwashers, water heaters, etc.
  • Unstop water fountains, sinks, floor drains, commodes, etc.
  • Assist in the installation of new/replacement plumbing fixtures.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and equipment in shop and truck.
  • Maintain records on supplies used and time spent.
  • Complete daily work orders.
  • Enter time in SCEIS daily
