About The Position

The Plumber Apprentice performs a variety of plumbing maintenance duties for the facility’s Maintenance Department and regularly works for a Plumber Senior Technician. The apprentice participates in a plumber apprenticeship program guided by a project manager, mentor, supervisor, and apprentice advisory training committee. The role includes on-the-job training, classroom instruction of at least 144 hours per year, and using the site CMMS to manage and document maintenance work.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license.
Registration in a Plumber Apprentice Program with USDOL.
Rudimentary ability to use hand-operated construction equipment.
Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds, kneel, bend, stoop, and perform strenuous labor for extended periods.
Ability to work all hours, including weekends and nights, as necessary.

Responsibilities

Identify the location of leaks and make repairs.
Repair or replace parts.
Determine the equipment, tools, or materials needed for tasks.
Solve simple plumbing problems.
Maintain OJT logs, perform rounds, and complete maintenance work orders, tests, and inspections.
Maintain facility and campus grounds, shops, and mechanical areas in a clean and safe manner.
Attend at least 144 hours of classroom instruction per year.
Learn and use the site CMMS.
Update work statuses and document completed tasks in the CMMS using a mobile device in real time.
Perform other duties as assigned.
