About The Position

AtomTech is seeking a motivated and hands-on Mid-Level PLC / Automation Designer to develop, program and commission automation systems for the automotive, logistics and defense industries! This role involves designing, programming, and commissioning PLC and controls systems from scratch through production handoff, including programming Siemens and Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs, and various SCADA systems. The position also requires troubleshooting complex automation, developing efficient means and standards to ensure budgets and schedules are met, validating system safeties, and conducting Factory and Site Acceptance Testing. General duties include assisting with feedback and project improvements, following company safety policies, and maintaining organized workspaces. The role is primarily in automotive manufacturing and launch environments, requiring travel and off-shift support during system startups and launches. Effective communication with internal teams and customers, providing clear updates, and participating in team meetings are critical. The physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, occasional handling of loads up to 100 lbs, and the ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work on equipment for extended periods in various industrial environments. The candidate must be comfortable working around live production lines, robots, welding equipment, and high-automation cells, with full manual dexterity for tool and equipment operation and the ability to work in tight or elevated spaces.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years direct working experience
  • Strong Siemens experience
  • Working knowledge of Safety PLC Systems and Safety Standards
  • Working knowledge of communication networks (Ethernet IP, IOLink, ProfiNET)
  • Direct experience with robot integration and understanding of robot programming
  • Direct experience with motion control and vision applications
  • Direct experience with safety circuit design
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Reliable transportation
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required
  • Flexible schedule availability (including overtime and weekends as needed)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new technical skills
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.

  • Comfortable working in warehouse, manufacturing and industrial environments with noise, dust, temperature changes and uneven surfaces
  • Full manual dexterity for tool and equipment operation; ability to work in tight or elevated spaces
  • Must be able to successfully pass an 11-panel pre-hire drug screening
  • Must be 18+

Nice To Haves

  • SCADA experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
