The Automation Engineer will be responsible for testing and debugging automation equipment, programming, troubleshooting, and evaluating design considerations for new and existing systems. This role involves maintaining a backup library of PLC, instrumentation software, and electrical documentation. The engineer will design and implement engineering solutions that meet project requirements while monitoring budget constraints to maximize production equipment quality and efficiency. Responsibilities also include preparing project scopes, cost justifications, and AFEs for senior management approval. The role requires applying mechanical theory and testing procedures to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify production equipment, as well as evaluating and coordinating with outside vendors for parts and systems. This position requires a significant amount of travel, up to 70%, often on short notice and including weekends.
