About The Position

Cheil USA is hiring a player-coach to lead its platform engineering team, which owns the core web stack and systems that need to scale as the user base grows. The role splits time between leading the team and contributing directly to the codebase. The position is based in Plano, Texas, and follows a hybrid schedule with Tuesdays and Thursdays in the office; remote work is optional on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of software engineering experience and at least 2 years managing engineers.
• Deep experience with a modern web stack, such as TypeScript/Node or Python, relational and NoSQL databases, REST/GraphQL APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience scaling systems through meaningful growth in traffic and data.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, observability, and security.
• A calm, structured approach to prioritization and incident management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work in a hybrid office environment at the Plano, Texas location, with Tuesdays and Thursdays in office and optional remote work Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

• Experience in agency, marketing technology, e-commerce, or consumer-facing web environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend and full-stack engineers.
• Remain hands-on with architecture, code review, and critical-path development.
• Own the reliability, performance, and scalability of core web services and the data layer.
• Establish engineering standards, on-call practices, and a healthy delivery cadence.
• Plan capacity and architecture for systems supporting significantly larger user bases.
