Mastercard's internship program offers more than hands-on work. It provides an opportunity to build skills, expand your network, and make a meaningful impact while working on projects that support business priorities. The Kubernetes Engineering team is responsible for designing, operating, and modernizing Mastercard’s enterprise Kubernetes platform, supporting approximately 500 Amazon EKS and Azure AKS clusters across multiple global regions. This team enables the infrastructure that powers a global payments network, driving initiatives such as GitOps-based deployments with Argo CD, cloud-agnostic networking solutions using Kubernetes Gateway API, policy-driven security and compliance automation, platform onboarding for new business units, and fleet-wide observability and cost optimization. Team members work across a broad technology stack, including Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, infrastructure-as-code, container networking, cloud security, CI/CD pipelines, and distributed systems. As a Platform Engineering Intern, you will contribute to meaningful, real-world engineering projects that enhance platform scalability, reliability, automation, and developer experience. You will gain hands-on experience with industry-leading technologies such as Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GitOps, Helm, and infrastructure-as-code while collaborating with engineers who operate one of the largest Kubernetes environments in the financial services industry. This internship provides a unique opportunity to develop highly sought-after cloud-native engineering skills and make a direct impact on systems that support billions of transactions worldwide.
