About The Position

Wispr is seeking a Platform Engineer specializing in Billing Systems to join their team. This role is crucial for managing and scaling Wispr's billing operations, which handle multiple complex models including consumer tiers, B2B seat-based and usage-based pricing, enterprise solutions, international currencies, and product bundling. The engineer will be responsible for reconciling billing state across various platforms like RevenueCat, Stripe, and Sequence. The position requires a balance between rapid iteration for new product launches and ensuring near-perfect reliability in billing processes. The role involves close collaboration with product engineers, the GTM team, data & analytics, and the CEO.

Requirements

  • Experience building billing systems for multiple motions.
  • Experience running a payments migration with minimal customer impact.
  • Ability to reconcile financial data and effectively communicate with finance teams.
  • Proficiency in handling complex problems with numerous constraints and edge cases.
  • Understanding of data integrity principles, such as avoiding hard deletes of rows.

Responsibilities

  • Own billing end to end, across consumer, B2B, and all bundled products.
  • Enable the rapid shipment of new SKUs and pricing experiments.
  • Maintain reconciliation of billing state across RevenueCat, Stripe, Sequence, and future platforms.
  • Develop the enterprise billing infrastructure, including seats, usage, and cost centers, with flexibility for mixed models.
  • Expand international coverage for seamless payment experiences.
  • Build robust testing frameworks to ensure billing accuracy and prevent failed charges during rapid development.
