The Platform Architect will design and evolve internal platform infrastructure at hyperscale. The role owns architecture for build systems, dependency management, artifact infrastructure, and deployment platforms that support large engineering organizations.

Requirements

  • Current or recent experience building internal platform infrastructure at a hyperscaler or large-scale cloud-native organization.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale build systems and reproducible, hermetic builds.
  • Experience with service dependency management at scale.
  • Experience with version governance and compatibility management for multi-module platforms.
  • Experience implementing GitOps and multi-environment deployment workflows.
  • Experience designing artifact storage, promotion, signing, and distribution systems.
  • Working knowledge of supply chain security, including SLSA and SBOM, in production environments.
  • Experience with API contract management, such as protobuf, gRPC, or OpenAPI.
  • Experience managing code organization and tooling for large engineering organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with financial or regulated workloads, including SOX, PCI-DSS, or SOC 2.
  • Multi-region or multi-tenant platform architecture experience.
  • Monolith-to-modular decomposition experience.
  • Proficiency in Go, Rust, or systems-level languages.
  • Experience with Bazel, Buck, Pants, or Nx at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design large-scale build systems serving 500+ engineers and 1,000+ packages or services.
  • Implement reproducible, hermetic build practices across the platform.
  • Build and operate service dependency management systems that track dependencies across hundreds of microservices.
  • Define version governance and compatibility management, including version set models, semantic versioning enforcement, and BOM management.
  • Implement GitOps deployment workflows with automated promotion gates across multiple environments and regions.
  • Design artifact registry architecture covering storage, promotion, signing, and distribution.
  • Drive production supply chain security practices, including SLSA, SBOM, artifact signing, and verification.
  • Establish API contract management, including schema evolution, contract testing, and backward compatibility enforcement.
  • Lead monorepo and large-scale module governance, and drive platform evolution through 10x+ growth.
