About The Position

The Plater Helper is responsible for washing, cleaning, and drying production parts from all product lines. This role involves maintaining the strength of cleaning solutions, draining and changing solutions as needed, and transporting parts between various departments. The Plater Helper will operate various types of equipment to complete chemical processing operations, ensuring parts are properly prepared for further machining or surface finishing. This is an entry-level position with opportunities to learn and grow within the manufacturing production team.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability to read and write English of a level required in company shop documents and computer software entry and processing requirements.
Capable of applying mathematical operations including the use of fractions and decimals to exacting tolerances (±.0001) as required by chemical processing procedures.
No experience required (entry-level position).
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Requires hand and finger manipulation to use precision measuring instruments.
Able to use all tools required for chemical processing in the department.
Some job assignments require maneuvering to different lines in the plating area, and support locations.
Most assignments necessitate continuous standing for the majority of the workday.
Work at times is highly repetitive and monotonous.
Able to follow instructions and maintain an efficient workflow under direct supervision or frequent review.
Able to calculate basic fractions for measuring chemicals for additions.
Close attention to detail with moderate eye concentration.
Must be able to visually check parts for quality.
Requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, distance vision and depth perception.
Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15, or obtain any required government authorization.

Nice To Haves

Skills and knowledge in chemical processing and the use of tools and equipment such as overhead crane, parts washer, tumble barrel, salt cleaner, centrifugal dryer etc. is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Learn to identify material and processes to be performed from job order or other written instructions.
Perform cleaning and surface preparation processes to prepare parts for further machining or surface finishing.
Meet employee efficiency levels for the various processes.
Maintain fluid levels for chemical plating, lubrication, and cleaning baths, and make appropriate chemical adjustments per addition instructions to maintain proper solution mix.
Operate auxiliary equipment pertaining to chemical processing plating operations such as overhead crane, parts washer, tumble barrel, salt cleaner, centrifugal dryer etc.
Perform daily routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
Clean work area daily.
Learn waste streams from the various processes and requirements pertaining to them.
Maintain transport pans and transport parts to and from various locations in the department.
Keep loading areas clean and safe, ensuring that containers are sturdy and effective.
Work as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve processes, productivity, and quality.
Use interpersonal skills as well as good written and verbal communications.
Assist other team members as required.
Operate chemical processing equipment and maintain basic solution mixes.
Ensure calibration stickers are current and solution parameters such as tank level and temperature are compliant to the work instructions.
Perform safety checklist and equipment maintenance activities as required.
Clean the area and equipment daily.
Perform duties that require close attention to work instructions and process controls.
Ensure the quality and condition of parts upon completion of the process performed.
Communicate to appropriate personnel any problems or concerns regarding quality of work received or time flow of work in progress as it affects production schedules.
Work primarily with co-workers, lead person, and supervisor in the department.
Maintain good housekeeping within the general work area for the safety of self and co-workers.
Adhere to company safety rules and knowledge of chemical safety is mandatory.
Take on or report for additional work as current tasks are completed.
Perform other work-related tasks as deemed necessary.
