About The Position

The Platemaker is directed daily by the Press Ready People & Performance Coach. Prepares plates for mounting and installation in flexographic printing presses and is responsible for quality/productivity associated with materials processed through assigned machinery. In this position the employee is responsible for the preparation of plates for mounting and for installation in flexographic printing presses. Position entails exposing photopolymer on the proper equipment and processing them based on job specifications. Notify management whenever equipment is found to be malfunctioning, damaged, or in need of repair. Maintain production and quality standards as set forth by supervision. Organizes workflow for smooth operation. Makes necessary adjustments and monitors equipment so that product complies with work order. Lifts and places photopolymer sheets into exposure, processing and finishing equipment. Checks quality using various instrumentation. Checks plates versus supplied proofs to verify accuracy. Trim plates as needed for ease of mounting. Must have good speaking skills. Must be able to read, write and understand English. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and employees both in person and through written and verbal correspondence. Ability to perform duties with minimal direction and be self-motivated. Ability to use computer systems for schedule and specifications as well as equipment operations. Adhere to safety policies and procedures in compliance with American Fuji Seal’s guidelines. Visually inspects the facility for tripping hazards, equipment safeguards and helps to maintain a clean work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma equivalent
  • Demonstrated insight into mechanical and process analysis
  • Must be able to see and compare colors
  • Must be able to see small graphic details
  • Must communicate in both verbal and written matters
  • Ability to work overtime and any schedule that management deems necessary to maintain production
  • Being mechanically inclined is essential.
  • Possesses strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to exercise independent decision-making in a demanding environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to focus on goals, metrics, and results. Self-started who takes ownership and accountability for self and department. Uses resources efficiently, effectively, and timely

  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical health and safety regulation

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree in Industrial Technology or related field
  • Computer skills in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Color Management.
  • 5-15 years related experience and training in printing process.
  • Basic knowledge of plastic films.
  • Basic knowledge of solvent base and water base inks.
