About The Position

This position involves performing a variety of duties to plan, set up, and spray parts to meet production requirements. The role requires masking and/or grit blasting parts to prepare them for coating. The Plasma Sprayer will use judgment to determine the proper flow and speed of the spray for optimal results and compliance with specifications. This role also involves interpreting work orders, engine manuals, and blueprints to understand the required operations and sequence. Collaboration with Engineering is expected for developing plasma spray programs, determining new methods, developing parameters, and selecting material types for new or modified products. The position also includes assisting with new tooling ideas, ensuring the correct use of fixtures and tools, and maintaining adequate material inventory to meet production goals. Requisitioning materials and tooling as needed is also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience plasma spraying
  • Aerospace environment preferred
  • Knowledge/Practical use and programming abilities of Robotic Plasma Gun (Sulzer Metco Multi Coat Sprayer System and ABB 2400 Series Robot)
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

  • Ensure use of proper fixtures and tools; maintain adequate inventory levels of material to meet production goals.
  • Requisition materials and tooling as required.
