About The Position

This role involves various operational duties within a plant setting, including bagging, truck loading, and assisting with processing. The position requires adherence to safety and quality standards, with specific responsibilities for food safety management if appointed as Food Safety Team Leader. The role also includes general cleaning, maintenance, and the potential for improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to work weekdays as long as required and weekends when required
  • Ability to accurately record required data on forms
  • Ability to work 2nd shift
  • Ability to walk stairs and climb up and down bulk rail cars
  • Ability to stand and walk for several hours for an extended period of time
  • Ability to bag up to 100 lb bags
  • Ability to drive fork-lift

Responsibilities

  • Operating a bagging line
  • Stacking bags and pallets, up to 100 lbs, in specified configurations
  • Operating a forklift and stretch wrapper
  • Verifying at regularly scheduled intervals that package weights are accurate
  • Control Point Monitoring and recording metal detector and magnet findings
  • Inspecting outbound trucks for sanitation and structural integrity, recording and documenting
  • Ensuring outbound trucks are properly sealed
  • Verifying and recording accuracy of packaging and amount of shipment
  • Assist the Processor as needed
  • Completing assigned cleaning and maintenance activities
  • Proactively offer facility and system improvement
  • Be actively involved and participate in the safety program
  • Reporting any issues involving sanitation, food safety and quality issues to management
  • Acting as the Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (as required by FSMA) by overseeing the formation and implementation of an FDA compliant Food Safety Plan (if appointed Food Safety Team Leader)
  • Managing the food safety team and organizing its work (if appointed Food Safety Team Leader)
  • Ensuring the food safety team receives relevant training (if appointed Food Safety Team Leader)
  • Ensuring the food safety management system is established, implemented, maintained and updated (if appointed Food Safety Team Leader)
  • Report to the organization’s top management on the effectiveness and suitability of the food safety management system (if appointed Food Safety Team Leader)
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Food Safety Team Leader in their absence (if Alternate)
  • Perform other duties as required
