About The Position

Brigham Young University (BYU) is seeking a Professorial Faculty member for the Plant and Landscape Systems program within the Department of Plant & Wildlife Sciences. This position involves teaching, leading an externally funded research program that prioritizes mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and actively participating in departmental, college, and university governance. The successful candidate will contribute to the intellectual and community life of the university and support its academic and religious missions. This role requires relocation to Utah and adherence to BYU's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards. Preference is given to qualified candidates who are members in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in a field relevant to plant and landscape systems, completed by the start date.
• Teaching experience relevant to the position and the applicant’s career status.
• Demonstrated teaching interests, experience, and vision that could strengthen the BYU Plant and Landscape Systems program.
• Preparedness to lead a research program that prioritizes mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
• Record of publishing in quality, peer-reviewed scientific journals relative to career status.
• Vision for how to obtain research funding and lead a student-focused research program.
• Ability to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university.
• Relocation and/or residence in Utah for the duration of employment.
• Abide by the university’s Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
• If a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.

Responsibilities

• Teach 3-4 regular classroom or laboratory courses per year in the Plant and Landscape Systems program, plus mentoring courses.
• Lead an externally funded research program that prioritizes mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
• Achieve annual quality peer-reviewed publications and presentations at professional or stakeholder meetings by the faculty and students in the program.
• Participate actively in departmental, college, and university governance.
• Engage in the intellectual and community life of the university.
• Support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrine of the affiliated church.
