About The Position

The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at Brigham Young University announces two full-time, tenure-track faculty positions. One position is in cell biology/physiology; the other is in neuroscience. Eligible candidates will possess a Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience in cell biology, physiology, neuroscience, or related discipline. Applicants should demonstrate strong potential for effective teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students in the classroom and laboratory. Candidates specializing in the cellular/molecular mechanisms underlying human health and disease are especially encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in cell biology, physiology, neuroscience, or related discipline.
  • Postdoctoral experience in cell biology, physiology, neuroscience, or related discipline.
  • Strong potential for effective teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students in the classroom and laboratory.
  • Specialization in the cellular/molecular mechanisms underlying human health and disease is encouraged.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • Must abide by the university’s Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrine of the affiliated church.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in cell biology, physiology, and/or neuroscience.
  • Maintain an active research program that provides high-quality experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Produce regular presentations at scientific conferences.
  • Produce consistent peer-reviewed publications in reputable scientific journals.
  • Have high potential for external funding.
  • Be involved in university service.
  • Actively engaged in professional organizations at the regional and national levels.
