About The Position

The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at Brigham Young University announces a full-time, tenure-track professional (teaching and lab coordination) faculty position. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in cell biology, physiology, or related discipline and a record of excellent teaching and mentoring in undergraduate lecture and lab courses. Preference is given to candidates with experience developing and overseeing physiology teaching labs. Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary scientific environment are essential. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in cell biology, physiology, or related discipline (completed by start date)
  • Record of excellent teaching and mentoring in undergraduate lecture and lab courses
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary scientific environment
  • Successful candidate must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate physiology, anatomy, and cell biology courses
  • Coordinating/managing physiology teaching labs
  • Recruiting, training, and mentoring undergraduate teaching assistants
  • Assessing and improving lab activities
  • Managing the physical aspects of physiology teaching lab equipment and rooms
  • Involvement in university service
  • Active engagement in professional organizations at the regional and national levels
