About The Position

Entry level position responsible for basic operational knowledge of all plant systems and operation of the equipment within specification and environmental regulations working under the direction of experienced Plant Technicians. Responsible for daily operation of the Water Plant and Warehouse and all duties that fall therein. This position will also be responsible for regulatory samples and reporting for the site. Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-2 years related experience
  • Demonstrate standard computer-based skills
  • Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge in the use of electrical hand tools and metering equipment.
  • All applicants (excluding applicants currently employed in specific positions in Fossil Generation) must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program in order to be considered a candidate for this position. POSS / MASS exams are administered on an as-needed basis by Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors water plant operations and records data at specified intervals in appropriate logs and computers
  • Check all pumps, motors, valves, and instrumentation associated with the demineralizer and RO systems
  • Monitors chemical tank levels and fills as needed
  • Take water samples and perform lab analysis and adjust chemical flows as needed to keep unit water chemistry within tolerance.
  • Installs and operates third party DI trailers as needed.
  • Handles shipping and receiving duties, including inventory entries in Maximo
  • Perform inventory cycle counts
  • Reads meters and records data at specified intervals in appropriate logs and computers
  • Immediately reports malfunctioning equipment of abnormal meter readings/equipment performance to the senior operator or supervisor and completes the appropriate records.
  • Provides mechanical, electrical, and/or instrument and control skills for maintaining mechanical equipment.
  • Understands the operational relationships of mechanical/electrical equipment to plant systems.
  • Performs troubleshooting, documentation, and assists in the resolution of problems discovered during shift.
  • Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE.
  • Assists with activities of clearances in the electronic clearance system.
  • Utilizes the Computer Based Maintenance system and several other computer - based software applications systems.
  • Gains knowledge of the entire plant cycle and how it functions.
