The Plant Supervisor directs day-to-day production activities to safely produce consistent, quality food products on schedule. This is a working, floor-focused role responsible for employee direction, food safety and quality practices, sanitation, productivity, policy enforcement, and coordination of routine maintenance needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Three or more years of manufacturing experience, including at least one year leading employees
  • Working knowledge of GMPs, sanitation, food safety and quality systems, workplace safety, and production documentation.
  • Able to organize a shift, solve routine production problems, coach employees, and communicate clearly across departments.
  • Comfortable using basic production, timekeeping, email, and reporting systems.

  • technical, food science, or supervisory coursework is helpful
  • food, bakery, or tortilla manufacturing experience preferred
  • English/Spanish bilingual communication skills preferred or required based on workforce needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily start-up, shift handoffs, line assignments, breaks, changeovers, and production closeout; remain visible and available on the plant floor.
  • Communicate production priorities and adjust labor and work assignments within the shift to meet the daily schedule.
  • Monitor throughput, downtime, waste, yield, and labor use; address routine issues promptly and report significant variances.
  • Verify employees follow recipes, specifications, work instructions, allergen controls, traceability, label and packaging requirements, and required production records.
  • Enforce GMPs, HACCP/food safety plans, quality checks, and hold or escalation procedures; partner with Quality on deviations, corrective actions, and inspections.
  • Coordinate pre-operational checks, cleaning schedules, sanitation verification, and timely correction of sanitation concerns.
  • Conduct safety talks, enforce PPE and safe-work practices, correct hazards, document incidents or near misses, and participate in investigations.
  • Identify equipment problems, perform or assign only approved basic operator care, and coordinate repairs with maintenance or qualified vendors; escalate issues that affect safety, quality, or output.
  • Confirm staffing needs, attendance, and time records; support scheduling and communicate shortages or overtime needs for approval.
  • Train and coach employees on job duties, food safety, sanitation, safety, and company procedures; verify understanding and maintain required training records.
  • Set clear expectations, provide timely feedback, document performance or conduct concerns, and administer corrective action in coordination with management or Human Resources.
  • Enforce company policies consistently and respond promptly to employee questions and routine workplace concerns.
  • Maintain accurate shift logs and production records, complete daily reports, and communicate unresolved issues and priorities to the next shift and plant leadership.
  • Support practical continuous-improvement activities that reduce waste, delays, and rework without compromising employee safety or product quality.
