About The Position

Oklo is seeking an experienced Plant Process Simulation Engineer to develop and own the plant process simulation model for the Aurora power plant. The model will inform plant design, operations, and dynamics. The engineer will model steady-state and transient plant performance, update the model as equipment and design information evolve, and establish automated model-development practices to accelerate design decisions and inform plant economics and operations. The role also involves developing detailed equipment component models from specifications and performance results, collaborating across engineering disciplines, and preparing technical documentation and reports for regulatory filings and internal and external audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, nuclear, or aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing or modeling plant processes in power generation, petroleum, chemical, or similar industries.
  • Broad familiarity with engineering principles, with strong systems-engineering and operations intuition.
  • Strong knowledge of plant thermodynamic cycles and process-fluid modeling at both equipment and plant level.
  • Able to communicate technical content and results verbally and in writing.
  • Willing and able to learn quickly, work in a fast-paced and highly iterative environment, and propose creative solutions to technical problems.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a team with limited guidance and without relying on hierarchy or excessive process.
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and comfortable solving open-ended problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building power conversion system process simulation models.
  • Experience designing process systems in power or chemical industries.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and own a plant process simulation model using AVEVA Process Simulation, ASPEN/HYSYS, Siemens Flomaster, or a similar tool, to produce transient and steady-state plant performance results.
  • Iteratively model existing and future plant equipment and maintain the model as design parameters and drawings are produced.
  • Establish automated plant model development to accelerate design decision-making and inform plant economics and operations.
  • Use equipment specifications and performance results to generate and implement detailed equipment component models.
  • Work with cross-disciplinary teams, including process engineering, instrumentation and control, and power generation and distribution.
  • Generate technical documentation and reports on plant and equipment performance for regulatory filings and internal and external technical reports.
