About The Position

The Plant Ops Lead Technician is responsible for receiving and following maintenance schedules, performing maintenance and repairs on the facility and equipment, and ensuring safety and comfort for patients and residents. This role involves technical direction, coordination of daily tasks, advanced troubleshooting of critical hospital systems, and collaboration with facility leadership. The position also requires educating and mentoring other technicians and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • In depth knowledge in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC is desired.
  • Minimum of three years of previous maintenance experience.
  • One year in Healthcare leadership recommended.

  • May be required to wear N95s or PAPRs throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from Director/Supervisor.
  • Perform maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment (plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical).
  • Follow all established safety procedures and precautions.
  • Replace burned out light bulbs.
  • Service heating and cooling units/systems.
  • Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed.
  • Ensure that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for patient and resident comfort, convenience, and safety.
  • Follow established policies and procedures concerning infection control and standard precautions.
  • Assure that work/assignment areas are safe and clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored.
  • Provide recommendations for resources to Supervisor and/or Plant Operations Director.
  • Assist in reviewing contracts.
  • Provide technical direction and support to Tier I, II, and III Maintenance Technicians.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments, preventative maintenance schedules, and emergency response.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on critical hospital systems (emergency generators, closed loop heating system, boilers).
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and hospital policies.
  • Lead or participate in internal and external inspections.
  • Maintain and audit records for accuracy and regulatory readiness.
  • Interface with vendors and contractors for service coordination, quality assurance, and system upgrades.
  • Collaborate with facility leadership on capital projects, energy management, and departmental strategy.
  • Attend and participate in mandatory in-services, educational classes, on the job training programs, and workshops.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Educate, teach, and/or mentor others as needed.
  • Take charge of department tasks when Supervisor is unavailable.
  • Other duties as assigned.
