About The Position

This role plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and controls the operations of the Engineering, Maintenance, and Grounds departments. The position also encompasses all duties and functions of the hospital Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with various regulatory agency requirements including The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), State and Local agencies, and The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The role involves managing staff and contractors to maintain efficient and safe hospital building operations, planning and executing building and equipment maintenance and repairs, utilizing energy management tools for utility efficiency, and developing and managing operating and capital budgets. Additionally, this position manages the Clinical Engineering, Safety, and Security departments.

Requirements

  • Holds current Certified Healthcare Facility Manager certification or has the ability to obtain within one year.
  • Holds valid driver’s license.
  • 5 years of previous hospital engineering management experience.
  • Previous project management experience.
  • Experience or working knowledge in all aspects of building trades, including HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry.
  • Intermediate level computer experience. Including Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and Building Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, Joint Commission and CMS standards, OSHA, EPA and state and local codes and standards.
  • Minimum of High School Diploma and degree or certification in a technical trade or field related to facility maintenance and engineering.

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

  • Develops and manages operating and capital budgets.
  • Manages the Clinical Engineering, Safety and Security departments.
