About The Position

This position at JBS USA is responsible for the timely and effective performance of maintenance procedures on equipment and machines. The role involves running tests to ensure proper operation, verifying that produced parts meet specifications, and performing basic repairs. The Plant Mechanic will also identify operational inefficiencies, conduct visual inspections, and maintain maintenance records and documentation. Effective communication and coordination with production personnel are key, as is keeping management informed of area activities and equipment issues. The role also includes maintaining a clean and secure work area and completing special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanics.
  • Knowledge of machine testing procedures.
  • Understanding of equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Good oral communication abilities.
  • Able to use all related mechanical and testing equipment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but, uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems that include a few variables.
  • Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two digit numbers; the four basic arithmetic operations with money; and operations with units such as inch, foot, yard; ounce, and pound (or their metric counterparts).
  • Ability to read, speak and write English proficiently.
  • Ability to read and understand directions.
  • Ability to communicate in comprehensive sentences.
  • Standing, walking, bending, lifting, stooping, crouching, kneeling intermittently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in maintenance and repair operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform timely and effective maintenance procedures.
  • Run tests to ensure equipment is operating properly.
  • Ensure parts and components meet or exceed product specifications.
  • Schedule, clean, oil, fill tanks, and adjust equipment for smooth operations.
  • Complete basic repairs on equipment and machines.
  • Refer difficult repairs to the Manager and recommend outside service providers.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct regular visual inspections of production equipment.
  • Complete all maintenance functions in accordance with established procedures, policies, and safety regulations.
  • Complete maintenance records accurately and efficiently.
  • Update maintenance log books.
  • Complete paperwork for outside service referrals and repairs.
  • Maintain files of operational guides for production equipment.
  • File invoices and receipts.
  • Maintain effective communication, coordination, and working relations with area personnel.
  • Meet the needs of Production personnel by completing maintenance functions in a timely manner.
  • Make suggestions to improve operational procedures.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and significant equipment problems.
  • Ensure work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Stay informed of maintenance requirements.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
