About The Position
Virginia Correctional Enterprises (VCE) is a manufacturing and service agency that provides meaningful jobs and develops work skills for offenders, supporting successful reentry after release. It offers goods and services to customers across the Commonwealth. Plant Managers lead and motivate a diverse team to meet production and quality standards under tight deadlines. The position requires strong communication skills, knowledge of manufacturing processes, independent work, and attention to safe work practices. New hires, transfers, and returning State employees begin or restart a 12-month probationary period.
Requirements
- Ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team in the production and quality of manufactured goods under tight deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others to achieve production goals.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and ability to work independently to motivate others to attain production goals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to make technical recommendations and develop job specifications and quality standards.
- Ability to work independently in complex work situations under tight deadlines and manage safe work practices.
Nice To Haves
- Considerable experience and proficiency in apparel processes, equipment operation, and quality controls.
- Proficiency with an MRP/ERP system or other manufacturing specialty applications.
- Certification in Total Quality Management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or another quality program.
