This critical role is dedicated to driving a safe, reliable, and efficient work environment while achieving annual and long-term operational, financial, and infrastructure objectives. We're looking for a Plant Manager to elevate our continuous manufacturing operations in Baltimore, expertly blending strategic oversight with hands-on engagement. This ensures our plant not only meets but exceeds performance targets through a relentless focus on our team and optimized processes. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Plant Manager will work within a matrixed environment, collaborate with shared services, and demonstrate a strong commitment to nurturing talent and building future leaders through dedicated people development and succession planning. We are particularly seeking a leader who has demonstrated experience in successfully leading teams through periods of significant transformation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience, including at least 6 years in a significant people leadership role, preferably within a continuous process industry.
  • This experience should include accountability for operational budgets, cost control initiatives, and contributing to capital expenditure planning.
  • Demonstrated practical experience and leadership in applying Continuous Improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM) methodologies to drive operational excellence and waste reduction, directly impacting profitability and cost efficiency.
  • Proven expertise in maintenance operations management and reliability engineering principles, with a strong understanding of proactive maintenance planning and advanced troubleshooting that minimizes unplanned downtime and associated financial impact.
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal, and change management skills, with a proven ability to lead teams through significant organizational and process transformations.
  • Solid financial acumen, including proven experience in developing and managing operational budgets, executing cost optimization strategies, and contributing to capital expenditure proposals.
  • Proven leadership in a continuous manufacturing environment, preferably in building materials.
  • Deep practical experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies and a passion for problem-solving.
  • Strong background in maintenance operations management and reliability engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in maintenance planning and advanced troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Exceptional talent for building, motivating, and developing high-performing teams, with a strong focus on engagement and a demonstrated ability to implement effective succession planning and people development programs.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety culture leadership and environmental compliance.
  • Proficiency in environmental risk assessment and mitigation, as well as comprehensive environmental compliance management.
  • Skilled in managing complex matrix relationships and driving results through influence.
  • Solid financial acumen, including budget management and cost optimization.
  • A blend of technical expertise and highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading teams and operations through significant transformation and change initiatives.
  • Proven ability to manage effectively in a matrix organizational structure, collaborating across departments to achieve strategic goals.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee comprehensive maintenance programs (preventative, predictive) to ensure the sustained reliability and longevity of all plant equipment, minimizing downtime. Drive proactive maintenance planning and leverage advanced troubleshooting methods to ensure maximum equipment uptime and performance.
  • Drive an unwavering commitment to EHS, developing and enforcing robust safety protocols and environmental compliance programs that protect our team and planet. Lead environmental risk assessment and mitigation efforts, ensuring strict compliance management with all relevant environmental regulations and standards.
  • Identify and nurture talent, providing impactful coaching, feedback, and development opportunities. Actively implement succession planning strategies to identify and prepare future leaders within the plant. Champion employee engagement and effective conflict resolution.
  • Utilize strong data analysis skills to identify trends, optimize processes, and make informed, impactful decisions that drive plant performance.
  • Establish clear performance metrics, ensuring accountability across all levels and consistently following through on commitments to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Effectively lead and manage the plant and its team through periods of organizational change, technological adoption, and process evolution, ensuring smooth transitions and sustained performance.
  • Navigate and drive results effectively within a complex matrix environment, influencing and collaborating with multiple functions and stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
