NAETC Plant Manager

GMFlint, MI
Onsite

About The Position

As NAETC Plant Manager, you will lead GM’s only North American in-house die build operation—transforming engineering data and design intent into world-class stamping dies, automation tooling, and digital metrology systems that enable vehicle launches. NAETC serves as the technical hub for GM’s regional Tool & Die capability and operates as part of the Global ME Body Stamping Center, in close alignment with GM’s global die build shops. You will lead a large organization of engineers and UAW-represented skilled trades, driving performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and culture. This role owns full plant accountability, including labor relations, talent, financial performance, and environmental compliance. Beyond operations, you will drive the strategic evolution of stamping—advancing the vision of zero re-cuts, zero tryout, and zero downtime through simulation, digital integration, and Industry 4.0 technologies. In partnership with global teams, you will position Tool & Die as a competitive advantage through technical excellence, cost leadership, and innovation.

  • 10+ years of experience across Tool & Die, stamping, or BIW engineering or manufacturing operations.
  • 5+ years leading salaried and UAW-represented skilled trades teams.
  • Deep expertise in stamping processes and the full die value stream (formability, design, construction, tryout, launch).
  • Working knowledge of digital metrology (laser scanning, CMM, in-line gauging) and data-driven process correction.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate closed-loop engineering systems linking simulation, tryout, and production data.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 / digital manufacturing systems (MES, IIoT, digital twins, analytics).
  • Strong financial and operational leadership (budgeting, cost control, capacity planning).
  • Proven success in a UAW-represented environment, including labor relations and workforce performance.
  • Data-driven problem solver with strong root cause analysis capability.
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder influence skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with stamping simulation/virtual validation (e.g., AutoForm) to drive die and process decisions.
  • Leadership experience within a tool & die or stamping facility.
  • Direct experience implementing closed-loop/digital systems (e.g., scan-to-CAD, simulation feedback loops).
  • Exposure to AI/ML applications in manufacturing or process optimization.

Responsibilities
