About The Position

SOFFA Electric is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead our growing electrical product manufacturing operations. This position has overall responsibility for production, quality, inventory, planning and scheduling, materials, capacity, safety, productivity, and on-time delivery. SOFFA operates in an engineer-to-order, high-mix electrical product manufacturing environment, so this role requires both strong operational leadership and a solid understanding of electrical manufacturing. The Plant Manager will work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing, Quality, Programming, Field Service, HR, and company leadership to ensure production is properly planned, resourced, and executed. This is a hands-on leadership role with significant presence on the manufacturing floor. The ideal candidate is a decisive, accountable leader who can develop people, solve problems, improve processes, and build a manufacturing organization capable of supporting continued growth.

Requirements

8+ years of progressive manufacturing, production, or manufacturing operations experience.
5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience managing supervisors, managers, or multiple operational functions.
Strong experience in electrical manufacturing, industrial controls, control panels, switchgear, MCCs, industrial automation, or a comparable electrical manufacturing environment.
Proven experience managing production, scheduling, manpower, capacity, quality, inventory, and delivery performance.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, BOMs, panel layouts, project specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
Strong understanding of electrical components, panel construction, wiring methods, and manufacturing material requirements.
Working knowledge of UL 508/UL 508A requirements.
Demonstrated ability to identify production, material, quality, capacity, and supply-chain risks and take corrective action.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing, Quality, HR, and other departments.
Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor.

Nice To Haves

Direct experience in a UL 508A industrial control panel manufacturing environment.
Experience with PLC/SCADA systems, instrumentation panels, industrial automation, MCCs, switchboards, or related electrical equipment.
Experience in engineer-to-order or high-mix/low-volume manufacturing.
Experience with ERP/MRP, production planning, inventory management, or manufacturing reporting systems.
Lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement experience.
Experience with facility expansion, production-layout planning, equipment, or capacity expansion.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Significant relevant manufacturing leadership experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

Lead all aspects of SOFFA's manufacturing operations and overall plant performance.
Direct and develop Production Supervisors, Leads/Foremen, Quality Control, Inventory, and production personnel.
Establish clear priorities, expectations, accountability, and performance standards.
Maintain visibility into production, manpower, materials, quality, inventory, capacity, and schedules.
Build a strong, scalable manufacturing organization that can support increasing project volume and complexity.
Develop and manage realistic production schedules based on project requirements, engineering readiness, materials, manpower, capacity, testing, and required completion dates.
Translate project schedules into clear daily, weekly, and monthly production priorities.
Monitor production performance and take corrective action when schedules or commitments are at risk.
Identify bottlenecks and capacity constraints and develop recovery plans when necessary.
Forecast manufacturing capacity and recommend staffing, overtime, equipment, tooling, or facility improvements as needed.
Understand industrial control panel and electrical equipment manufacturing requirements.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, panel layouts, BOMs, project specifications, approved submittals, and manufacturing documentation.
Translate technical project requirements into practical production and material requirements.
Ensure production works from current, approved, revision-controlled documentation.
Establish practical Ready-to-Produce requirements so work is not released before the necessary information, materials, manpower, tools, and capacity are available.
Coordinate with Engineering when technical information or requirements are incomplete or unclear.
Oversee inventory and material-control activities supporting production.
Review engineering releases and inventory availability to determine material requirements.
Provide Purchasing with accurate material requirements and production need-by dates.
Identify long-lead components, shortages, and supply-chain risks before they impact production.
Maintain inventory accuracy, material traceability, project-specific material control, and effective material staging.
Partner with Purchasing, Engineering, and Project Management to resolve material-related production risks.
Lead the manufacturing Quality Control function and establish high standards for workmanship and quality.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of UL 508 and UL 508A requirements applicable to industrial control panels and electrical equipment.
Understand how component selection, substitutions, wiring methods, construction, labeling, and workmanship affect UL compliance.
Monitor first-pass quality, rework, recurring defects, and corrective actions.
Partner with Engineering and Quality to resolve technical and compliance issues.
Lead, coach, develop, and hold manufacturing leaders and employees accountable.
Identify staffing and training needs and build cross-training and leadership bench strength.
Partner with HR on recruiting, onboarding, employee development, performance management, and succession planning.
Maintain a safe, organized, professional, and productive manufacturing environment.
Drive continuous improvement in production flow, material staging, shop layout, work processes, productivity, and communication.
Apply practical Lean, root-cause analysis, and process-improvement practices where they provide measurable results.
