Requirements

  • Some overnight travel by various modes of transportation including airline, train, and automobile as deemed appropriate.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Continuous contact with other people requiring communications via face-to-face, orally by telephone and various written methodologies.
  • BS Degree in a business or technical field with 10+ years supervisory/management experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of production processes within manufacturing.
  • Sound working knowledge of customer relationships including volume, process, and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling functions.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting.
  • Ability to handle a multiple tasks with varying deadlines.
  • Ability to work with extremely confidential information/situations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills through all levels of management.
  • Have talking knowledge of all Packaging functions and their purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Meet all operational and financial goals in accordance with the company’s overall goals and strategies for the Winston Salem Tekni-Plex location.
  • Lead the Winston Salem manufacturing facility, overseeing safety, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, environmental, and logistics.
  • Serve as a fiduciary of the facility.
  • Build a diverse, highly and multi-skilled, safety-conscious, cost-conscious workforce that is respected and involved in continuous improvement activities.
  • Lead and direct manufacturing operations to maximize financial benefit.
  • Lead initiatives to maximize machine utilization and output at minimum cost, producing a quality product.
  • Direct training, reduce scrap, and ensure a safe work environment where all employees are valued, respected, and accountable.
  • Ensure manufacturing goals are met to improve performance in production output, machine utilization, and cost control.
  • Monitor production outputs, machine utilization, downtime issues, and quality service levels.
  • Monitor scrap levels and implement strategies to reduce scrap, including working with suppliers.
  • Evaluate manning requirements and implement plans for personnel training and visibility of machine results.
  • Support and lead efforts to improve safety and housekeeping.
  • Strengthen manufacturing floor leadership through the development of Production Managers and Supervisors.
  • Communicate regularly with OA's to develop and maintain effective employee relations.
  • Recommend, justify, and assist in the implementation of Capital Requests to support the strategic plan.
  • Monitor and make recommendations to improve make readies and reduce scrap.
  • Monitor departmental spending and recommend ways to control and reduce spending.
  • Monitor employee performance, including action plans for non-performers and rewards for superior performers.
  • Strengthen company team performance with participation on teams and ensure direct reports participate on teams.
  • Oversee the management operating system and its implementation by reports.
  • Adhere to all Company Safety rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to Tekni-Plex safety and environmental compliance programs.
