About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor improves Maintenance Team productivity and quality through hands-on supervisory direction of Maintenance Technicians. This role works with the Maintenance Manager to collaborate with the MRO team for repairs and replacements of Plant assets, including Facility systems and equipment, and production equipment. The position ensures compliance and builds processes and procedures for Plant utilities and plant assets. This person is reliability-minded in the commissioning, maintaining, and repairing of Plant assets, helps drive Best Practices maintenance approaches, and is familiar with or has been exposed to continuous improvement and 5S programs and policies. The role promotes strong team cohesiveness and a collaborative mindset within and outside the department. The candidate must be willing to help build and apply Reliability Centered Maintenance techniques and processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of experience in an industrial maintenance capacity.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in industrial refrigeration is competent in those systems, processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Capable of and will be expected to continue to build infrastructure to grow, develop, and sustain the Maintenance team, which includes Ammonia and Wastewater Plants, systems, and associated utilities.
  • Having previously installed, troubleshot, and repaired mechanical and electrical systems at the facility, equipment and component level environments.
  • Basic hydraulics/pneumatics experience.
  • Ability to read/understand schematics.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems and work order processes; able to lead problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with high-level process issues.
  • PC literate with knowledge of Word, Excel, and CMMS programs.
  • Good planning and priority-setting skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills (conflict resolution, facilitation, change management skills, decision-making, empowerment, and delegation).
  • Experience in a fast-paced, cold, wet production environment.
  • Mandatory ability to speak, understand, read and write in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Food or meat processing plant experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with GMP, and food manufacturing best practices.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations preferred.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all Daily's Premium Meats safety policies/procedures and holds others accountable.
  • Provides long-term solutions and day-to-day leadership and management for maintenance employees.
  • Leads problem analysis, time/project management, and works with Planner/Scheduler on job planning and KPIs.
  • Provides feedback to employees, including communicating any changes in policies or procedures as needed.
  • Ensures all new hires are trained properly and existing employees perform their jobs safely, correctly, and with the highest level of quality and ability.
  • Coordinates all new employee activities and training related to the shift.
  • Assists Maintenance Manager in performing administrative tasks, planning, and work-flow analysis.
  • Ensures weekly and daily reports and checklists are turned in timely and accurately.
  • Is a competent troubleshooter and is tenacious in equipment repair to limit downtime.
  • Takes ownership of personal growth and professional development by soliciting feedback, getting involved in departmental/plant initiatives and projects, and developing a career plan.
  • Coaches and mentors, appraises performance, rewards, and disciplines employees, and addresses complaints to resolve problems.
  • Creates and nurtures relationships with internal and external customers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
