About The Position

The Physical Plant Supervisor 3 is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, repair, renovation, and facility support functions of the Coliseum, home of the Arizona State Fair and numerous year-round events. This position supervises maintenance staff, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance programs, oversees facility improvement projects, and ensures the Coliseum is maintained in a safe, operational, and event-ready condition. The Physical Plant Supervisor 3 reports directly to the Physical Plant Administrator and is expected to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required to support facility operations, special events, and emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Fairgrounds to ensure the facility is safe, functional, and fully prepared for the Arizona State Fair, concerts, sporting events, exhibitions, and other public gatherings.
• Respond to operational issues and emergencies by making timely, decisive actions to minimize downtime and restore facility readiness.
• Monitor service contracts and contractor performance to guarantee quality work, budget adherence, and contract compliance. Coordinate maintenance schedules and assignments to avoid disruptions during live events while meeting project deadlines.
• Supervise, assign, coordinate, and evaluate the work of facility maintenance personnel and specialized trade contractors engaged in repair, remodeling, and construction.
• Prepare operational reports, maintenance logs, capital project updates, charts, and research data using standard administrative software.
• Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs for building systems, equipment, and infrastructure in coordination with Physical Plant Administration.
• Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and technical construction documents to guide repairs, renovations, and capital improvement projects.
• Inspect facilities regularly to ensure strict adherence to national and local building codes, ADEQ (Arizona Department of Environmental Quality), OSHA, and other relevant state and federal regulatory standards.
