About The Position

Roquette is a family-owned global leader in plant-based ingredients and a leading provider of pharmaceutical excipients. We are looking for our next Plant Maintenance Supervisor within our Maintenance Team. The Plant Maintenance Supervisor position will be responsible for directing, coordinating, and executing day to day maintenance activities on-site at the Production Facility in Keokuk, IA. This position will be primarily assigned to a specific production unit, but this role may be required to cover for all areas of the plant. Systems the successful candidate may be required to be familiar with include, but are not limited to, ion exchange systems, evaporation systems, batch and continuous reactor systems, powder conveying equipment, batch centrifuges, electric motors, centrifugal pumps, valves, and packaging equipment. This position is located in Keokuk, Iowa (Keokuk, IA, US).

Requirements

  • Technical Degree and/or equivalent experience working in plant maintenance environment.
  • Team leadership experience required.
  • Demonstrates excellent team building, people management, and leadership skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation, strong motivational skills, and good organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to execute, manage, and /or develop projects effectively.
  • Project management experience.
  • Demonstrates proficiency using Windows-based operating systems.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Demonstrates understanding of a reliability centered maintenance model, reliability concepts, and proactive maintenance.
  • Demonstrates ability to work directly with the production unit maintenance staff and outside contractors in support of proactive maintenance efforts.

Nice To Haves

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 1-3 years formal supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates understanding of precision based maintenance techniques, with prior experience applying precision based maintenance techniques preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day activities of the production unit maintenance craftsmen, including contractors.
  • Ensures maintenance plans are scheduled and executed in a timely manner.
  • Conduct daily meetings with production unit maintenance craftsmen to engage in toolbox safety talks, quality updates/reviews, communicate work priorities for the day/week, and hand out work orders.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and implementing corrective actions to hit long-term and short-term performance targets.
  • Provide employee coaching, conduct performance feedback/evaluations, assist in interviewing for future hiring needs; address and carry out performance disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Conduct routine skills assessments of direct reports and recommend/implement training plans to close any skills gaps.
  • Addresses and resolves problems and conflicts in design, interfacing with internal customers, new process/equipment develop and resolve existing process issues.
  • Demonstrates strong technical skill sets and troubleshooting capabilities as technical mechanical systems expert to successfully assess technical system issues and recommend and implement actions/work/projects to resolve the issues.
  • Develops and manages appropriate spending of the maintenance budget for the assigned production unit.
  • Execute good housekeeping practices contributing to maintenance of the Production area and addressing potential issues with follow up and action items.
  • Complies with hazardous waste programs and hazard material identification performing actions with the programs as required.
  • Knowledge of and works in compliance with Union Contract(s) handling complaints, grievances and counseling as required.
