Summary: Main responsibilities are to ensure the implementation of the cleaning and sanitization processes. From a risk of contamination point of view, verify cleaning, sanitization and work practices in the manufacturing and packaging departments. The hygienist is responsible for verifying the design and maintenance of equipment, storage and handling of raw materials as well as the cleanliness of the work environment, and must also ensure good personnel work practices.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Biology, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing, filling and packaging of liquid products.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Understanding of clean design requirements, cleaning/sanitization principles, and micro contamination risk
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Ability to influence across all levels of the organization
  • Relentless drive to continuously improvement cleaning and sanitization procedures, and the execution of those procedures, to reduce the risk of micro contamination

Responsibilities

  • Works with KDC personnel across the site to create a culture of aseptic technique, good hygiene practices, and micro risk awareness
  • Partners with outside cleaning chemical vendor to manage the site Cleaning Improvement Masterplan.
  • Supervises CIP and COP changeovers
  • Authors and revises site Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for cleaning and sanitization.
  • Directs housekeeping and cleaning programs.
  • Qualifies and regularly audits the effectiveness of cleaning and sanitization procedures.
  • Conducts staff training of site cleaning and sanitization procedures.
  • Daily audits of manufacturing and production to identify micro risk areas, clean design defects, and proper adherence and execution of C&S procedures.
  • Oversees regular teardown and “super” cleaning of equipment, and updates procedures as necessary based on key learnings/risk areas identified.
  • Participates in company continuous improvement initiatives by seeking out improved ways to clean and sanitize more efficiently & effectively.
  • Lead Micro Risk Awareness (MRA) audits with key customers
  • Understands and adheres to Environmental, Occupational and Health and Safety requirements.
  • Understands and adheres to all Quality, Good Manufacturing practices and micro cleaning and sanitization standards and guidelines.
  • Responsible for Biofilm elimination and metrics associated
  • Oversee the plant SWAT team, as additional eyes to maintain the plant hygiene
  • Lead and execute validations related to cleaning processes
  • Lead and execute investigations related to Micro contaminations
  • All other duties as assigned.
