About The Position

Under the direction of the Supervisor-Power Station Maintenance, performs janitorial and minor maintenance duties in the power station and assigned adjacent outside areas.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent is preferred.
  • At least one year of recent experience using janitorial equipment and supplies is required.
  • Must have six months' recent industrial and lawn equipment operational experience.
  • Must have six months' recent experience cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, vacuuming floors, and using cleaning supplies in an industrial field or be able to demonstrate a strong aptitude for custodial, facility service, or related through previous work experience.
  • Must have a strong, steady work history as well as some experience working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (minimum Class F).
  • Working knowledge of industrial-type maintenance cleaning including stripping and buffing equipment.
  • Ability to work around moving and rotating machinery while cleaning.
  • Ability to work safely with limited supervision.
  • Ability to maintain inventory of janitorial supplies.
  • Ability to use appropriate janitorial supplies for cleaning.
  • Ability to maintain a clean working environment of assigned area.
  • Ability to schedule/prioritize assigned workloads.
  • Ability to operate industrial and lawn equipment.
  • Ability to fix minor repair/maintenance on industrial and lawn equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to work courteously with customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to work with chemicals and hazardous cleaning material in a safe manner.
  • Ability to learn LOTO procedures (Lock Out/Tag Out) due to working around power plant equipment.
  • Effectively utilize a range of digital tools and platforms, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, enterprise software, artificial intelligence-enhanced applications, and self-service systems.
  • Must possess a willingness and capacity to learn and adapt to emerging technologies, including mobile devices, cloud-based systems, and data-driven platforms relevant to utility operations.
  • Maintain adherence to all company policies.
  • Physical requirements include: sitting, standing, grasping, bending, crouching, reaching, balancing, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
  • Must be physically able to perform some custodial duties at heights.
  • Must be able to respond to audible and visual alarms, including safety and production alarms.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work within the rated capacity of the utility’s aerial lifts, ladders, fall restraint devices, and/or other job-related equipment.
  • Must be clean-shaven such that facial hair will not interfere with the respirator seal during annual fit testing of respiratory protection and when required to wear the respirator on the job.
  • Employee must remain alert and aware of their surroundings at all times and maintain the ability to respond to changing circumstances in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work successfully with diverse groups of people.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional knowledge of power cleaning equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • General care, maintenance, and janitorial upkeep of assigned area. This includes but is not limited to: floors, windows, lavatory fixtures, and office and plant equipment.
  • Removes trash from assigned area.
  • Yard and outdoor care, maintenance, and upkeep. This includes, but is not limited to: mowing, pruning, spraying, weed eating, fertilizing, and snow removal.
  • Performs painting, minor carpentry work, changes light bulbs, and performs other minor maintenance work.
  • Operates and performs routine maintenance on all equipment utilized.
  • Works safely and encourages safe work of others.
  • Maintains inventory of janitorial supplies.
  • Performs other related duties and functions as required or assigned by management.
