About The Position

Silgan Closures is seeking a full-time Plant Controller to serve as a strategic business partner driving operational and financial success at our Hazleton, PA facility. As the Plant Controller, you will drive plant-level financial operations, cost accounting, and reporting while partnering closely with operations to optimize performance, control costs, and improve profitability.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing finance principles
Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards or similar platforms
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build and analyze complex spreadsheets
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Responsibilities

Lead all plant accounting functions including cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis
Prepare and analyze monthly financial results, forecasts, and strategic plans in alignment with corporate standards
Ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and integrity in accordance with GAAP
Develop and maintain standard costs, bills of materials, and inventory valuation
Analyze labor, material, overhead, and production variances within a manufacturing environment
Monitor manufacturing performance through plant walkthroughs and operational collaboration
Oversee physical inventory processes, cycle counts, and monthly reconciliations
Identify and manage excess and obsolete inventory
Ensure compliance with SOX internal controls and safeguard company assets
Partner with plant team to improve manufacturing efficiency and cost performance
Participate in production meetings and provide financial insights to support decision-making
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to operational and financial performance
Oversee and develop front office and accounting staff
Drive accountability, accuracy, and process improvement across plant financial operations
