About The Position

Silgan Closures is seeking a full-time Plant Controller to serve as a strategic business partner driving operational and financial success at our Hazleton, PA facility. As the Plant Controller, you will drive plant-level financial operations, cost accounting, and reporting while partnering closely with operations to optimize performance, control costs, and improve profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing finance principles
  • Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards or similar platforms
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build and analyze complex spreadsheets
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Responsibilities

  • Lead all plant accounting functions including cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial results, forecasts, and strategic plans in alignment with corporate standards
  • Ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and integrity in accordance with GAAP
  • Develop and maintain standard costs, bills of materials, and inventory valuation
  • Analyze labor, material, overhead, and production variances within a manufacturing environment
  • Monitor manufacturing performance through plant walkthroughs and operational collaboration
  • Oversee physical inventory processes, cycle counts, and monthly reconciliations
  • Identify and manage excess and obsolete inventory
  • Ensure compliance with SOX internal controls and safeguard company assets
  • Partner with plant team to improve manufacturing efficiency and cost performance
  • Participate in production meetings and provide financial insights to support decision-making
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to operational and financial performance
  • Oversee and develop front office and accounting staff
  • Drive accountability, accuracy, and process improvement across plant financial operations
