About The Position

Hoffmaster is a leader in the tableware industry, producing a wide range of products from paper plates and napkins to paper straws and food wrap. Hoffmaster is looking for a Plant Controller to serve as the financial leader within a manufacturing facility. This role involves partnering closely with Operations, Distribution, Marketing, Procurement, and Finance to drive performance, visibility, and continuous improvement. The Plant Controller will act as a strategic advisor to plant leadership, guiding operational decision-making through financial insights, strengthening costing and inventory management, and supporting long-term planning for efficiency and profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
  • 8 years of experience including relevant manufacturing experience
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel
  • Proven management experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the financial partner to plant leadership, collaborating with Operations, Distribution, Marketing, Procurement, and Finance to align priorities and drive business performance.
  • Provide financial visibility into manufacturing performance, preparing and analyzing monthly plant financial results, including variance analysis and operational insights.
  • Lead month-end close activities for manufacturing operations, ensuring accurate reporting of inventory, production costs, and related financial metrics.
  • Strengthen cost accounting and product costing, maintaining BOM and routing accuracy while continuously improving costing methodologies and data reliability.
  • Support new product financial planning, developing product cost estimates and partnering with Marketing and FP&A on financial analysis.
  • Drive operational improvement through financial insight, working with plant leadership to identify opportunities that improve cost efficiency, productivity, and inventory performance.
  • Develop and manage manufacturing budgets, partnering with operations to build labor, overhead, material, and expense budgets for the facility.
  • Support capital investment decisions, preparing financial analysis and justification for capital projects and operational improvements.
  • Partner on inventory management initiatives, helping define metrics and processes that improve inventory visibility and operational discipline.
  • Support audit and compliance activities, assisting with the annual audit process and maintaining strong financial controls.
  • Champion performance management systems, supporting corporate financial reporting and performance management initiatives.
  • Lead and develop finance team members, managing and mentoring direct reports while building a high-performing finance function within the plant.
