About The Position

Under the general direction of the Planning & Tribal Development Director, the Coordinator will develop and implement goals and objectives aligned with Pawnee Nation priorities. This role involves planning, coordinating, and evaluating grant-funded projects, engaging confidently with Pawnee Nation leadership, consultants, and contractors, and ensuring projects are completed within scope, budget, and timeline. The Coordinator will collaborate with the Department Director, programs, and departments to identify project scope, goals, deliverables, resources, budgets, and timelines. A key aspect of this role is reviewing and interpreting funding announcements and grant opportunities, and proposal guidelines with strong reading comprehension. The Coordinator is expected to take initiative to learn and apply relevant processes, policies, and procedures, and work independently, demonstrating self-motivation in managing tasks and responsibilities. This position will learn and support all aspects of the Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) and other infrastructure grants, including environmental assessments, implementation scheduling, annual reporting, budget monitoring, and program delivery and compliance. The role also includes drafting and assisting in preparing grant proposals in coordination with other programs, monitoring ICDBG and other grants to ensure timely completion of objectives and compliance, facilitating internal and external meetings, preparing documentation, and following established procedures. The Coordinator will serve as a liaison to funding agencies throughout the project lifecycle, communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and prepare and submit narrative and financial reports to internal and external stakeholders. Leading or assisting in drafting grant proposals and coordinating with other programs to secure funding is also a responsibility. The role involves learning and supporting procurement processes, including purchase order preparation in accordance with Pawnee Nation Fiscal Policies & Procedures, and maintaining accurate and confidential program and vendor files. Other duties as assigned by the Division Director, consistent with the scope of the position, will also be performed.

Requirements

  • Minimum: Associate’s degree in tribal government, general business, communication, or related field AND/OR certified vocational training in a related area.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in project management or coordination.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in grant/proposal writing or similar business communication.
  • Strong reading comprehension.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-motivation.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, communication, or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience and/or training may be considered in lieu of formal education.
