About The Position

This position will involve reviewing transportation plans and reports, coordinating updates to the Turnpike Work Program, and serving as the primary liaison with MPOs, local governments, and FDOT districts. It requires independently representing the Turnpike at meetings, preparing presentations and written reports, and responding to inquiries from officials, staff, media, and the public. The position also oversees consultant work, maintains current knowledge of Turnpike and FDOT programs, and performs additional planning and coordination duties as assigned. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze internal and external reports and identify impacts to Turnpike plans and programs.
  • Review transportation plans and programs and prepare proposed amendments, if necessary, to reflect the Turnpike Work Program.
  • Serve as liaison to the Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), county/city commissions, local Florida Department of Transportation districts, and other groups.
  • Act as sole representative and spokesperson of the Turnpike at MPO meetings and communicate independently.
  • Determine and schedule meeting attendance independently.
  • Communicate the annual update of the Five-Year Work Program.
  • Decide inclusion or removal of Turnpike projects based on feedback of stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the inclusion of Turnpike project priorities into local government land use and transportation plans.
  • Serve as liaison between the Turnpike Planning Office and the Office of Policy and Planning for Central Office's transportation planning activities.
  • Prepare and conduct presentations for public information meetings, formal public hearings, and other local government board and committee meetings.
  • Attend project public meetings and represent the Turnpike while interacting with elected and appointed officials, local government staff, and members of the public.
  • Lead other project meetings.
  • Prepare correspondence in response to requests from elected or appointed officials, local government staff, the media, the public, and others.
  • Prepare written reports, technical memoranda, and planning studies.
  • Direct consultant staff to provide technical information or presentations, review and approve the consultant’s work, and coordinate the scheduling and presentation of the information.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Turnpike plans, programs, system of roadways, tolling methods, and policies including Work Program and project priorities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of FDOT plans, programs, and policies.
