Summary: The Planning & Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production planning, scheduling, and logistics operations to support customer orders, forecasts, and Kanban requirements while maximizing operational efficiency and job profitability. This role supervises the planning and logistics functions to ensure accurate production schedules, effective material flow, and timely shipment of finished goods. The Supervisor works closely with Sales, VP of Operations, and Supply Chain teams to balance production capacity, inventory levels, and transportation requirements to achieve on-time delivery and optimal inventory performance.

Requirements

  • 4 year university bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years scheduling experience in a contract-manufacturing (Machining) environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, including the knowledge and application of Office Suite including Access and ERP Software. Epicor a plus.
  • Excellent Verbal & written skills
  • Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers, coworkers, and subordinates; includes the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and oversee the Master Production Schedule (MPS) in accordance with the Sales & Operations Plan.
  • Supervise planning activities to ensure accurate scheduling of manufacturing operations and timely fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Balance production capacity, inventory levels, and demand requirements to meet customer service and delivery goals.
  • Coordinate and reschedule shop floor production as necessary to meet lead-time commitments and changing priorities.
  • Perform capacity planning and shop load analysis to verify master schedule accuracy.
  • Monitor and publish Capacity Planning Reports and Earned Hours reports.
  • Work directly with Operations leadership to resolve production bottlenecks, scheduling conflicts, and resource constraints.
  • Provide lead-time commitments to Sales based on capacity and operational capability.
  • Supervise and provide leadership for key ERP / Systems related projects.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to production planners, schedulers, and logistics personnel.
  • Facilitate communication between Sales, Production, Purchasing, and Logistics teams to resolve scheduling or delivery conflicts.
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics related to production scheduling, on-time delivery, and logistics performance.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and operational excellence.
  • Supervise daily logistics and shipping operations, ensuring timely and accurate shipment of customer orders.
  • Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, and production teams to ensure materials availability and efficient flow through the facility.
  • Manage inbound and outbound freight scheduling with carriers and logistics providers.
  • Monitor inventory movement to ensure proper inventory control and accuracy within ERP systems.
  • Identify and implement improvements to logistics processes, transportation costs, and delivery performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable transportation regulations.
