Reporting to the Logistics Planning Manager, the person in this role will support the Part Supply Chain Planning department's objective to achieve lowest cost logistics by leveraging TPS and Toyota Way principles. The primary responsibility of this role is to create the supply chain plan to move freight from the supplier to unload at the manufacturing plant or service part location through designing over the road or rail logistics plans This position directly supports North American Manufacturing Companies (NAMC’s), Service Part Centers, Cross Docks, Contract Logistics Providers and Toyota suppliers in the planning and implementation of the supply chain plan Has direct responsibility for making decisions to impact the flow of freight and resources required to support Toyota supply chain, including routing, number of drivers and tractors, yard space, facility material handling, packaging return flow, and parts order timeline Position will use a combination of Toyota developed and off the shelf software to execute a planning cycle to adjust to monthly (or more frequently) changes to the sales plan Position will conduct complex supply chain network optimization, problem solving, and data analysis to improve freight flow and reduce cost within a $1B+ budget This position requires a high degree of analytical skill to use large data sets and go and see observations to create and implement innovative process to kaizen the supply chain Position will visualize KPI condition daily to confirm performance to target and use this data to drive continuous improvement and problem solving Flexibility for monthly business travel approximately 3-4 days per month Flexibility for daily overtime based on business and customer demand What you’ll be doing Responsible to optimize external parts delivery supply chain network based upon TPS principles. Focus on developing and sustaining positive relationships with Customers (North America Manufacturing Companies, Service Part Centers, Cross Docks, Contract Logistics Providers and Toyota Suppliers) to develop a supply chain plan that ensures smooth operational flow at the lowest cost delivery of parts. Foster personal growth and development to meet current and future business needs, with focus on problem solving, quality, analytical skills, and developing deep operational knowledge of the supply chain. Create an environment that drives innovative solutions to deliver significant cost kaizen within $1B+ logistics spend. Achieve daily milestones with 100% accuracy to produce a new logistics design monthly, maximizing efficiency and managing change within the supply chain.
