About The Position

The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) is seeking a Planning Coordinator to support its current and long-range planning operations. This exempt position works in an administrative, technical, and management capacity, supervising staff, programs, and services. The role acts as a liaison between the Land Use Services Department and other CVRD divisions, as well as external agencies and organizations. The immediate need is for a Planning Coordinator in the Development Services Division, focusing on customer service and development application processes. The CVRD is located on Vancouver Island and serves a population of 80,000 across distinct municipalities and electoral areas, offering a desirable lifestyle with numerous recreational and cultural opportunities.

Requirements

University graduation in a related field plus a graduate degree in Community and Regional Planning or related field
Full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and Planning Institute of BC Registered Professional Planner Certification
A minimum of five years of related experience, preferably in a BC local government setting
A minimum of two (2) years of experience with staff mentoring, supervision, training and performance management
A valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
