About The Position

Develops, coordinates, plans and evaluates neighborhood plans and programs; provides assistance and support to neighborhood organizations, community leaders and City officials; and serves as a representative to one or more City boards and/or standing committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must Possess and maintain a valid State of West Virginia Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and administers neighborhood plans, programs and services.
  • Assists neighborhood and community groups and associations including, but not limited to East End and West Side Main Street Associations and the East and West Side Neighborhood Associations.
  • Provides technical and/or other support, and serves as staff liaison to one or more of the following Board of Zoning Appeals, Municipal Planning Commission, Charleston Historic Landmarks Commission, City Council Committee on Urban Renewal and City Council Committee on Planning.
  • Prepares, implements and monitors approved neighborhood action, community development and/or revitalization plans.
  • Provides technical support and other assistance in zoning reviews.
  • Plans, organizes and manages special projects and/or events to promote the betterment of City Neighborhoods.
  • Prepares reports and/or gives presentations to neighborhood groups, community leaders and/or City officials.
  • Researches, reviews and/or responds to questions from neighborhood associations, City residents and/or business owners regarding issues, concerns and/or problems impacting the quality of life, development and/or revitalization in neighborhoods.
