The Planner will execute the manufacturing plan based off of the Master Production Schedule, with emphasis on meeting customer order ship dates, and will aggressively strive to meet the requested ship date. Monitor daily capacity and develop production plans to best utilize capacity. Escalate and resolve daily obstacles that threaten on-time shipments or capacity optimization.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED, and experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Perform all work assignments with proper material handling techniques, following quality standards and safety precautions
  • Adapt and accept changes based on production demands and schedules
  • Remain open to and supportive of team ideas and management decisions
  • Display cross-cultural sensitivity while working in a diverse employee population
  • Able to accept constructive criticism and feedback, and respond in an appropriate manner
  • Experience working in a team environment, and/or independently
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail software.
  • Experience with ERP systems required, Epicor preferred.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to foster teamwork across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in a technical field preferred
  • 2 years of experience in production planning, MPS and MRP preferred

Responsibilities

  • Add and reschedule jobs daily per MPS/MRP suggestions for assigned product families
  • Review and print jobs that contain no shortages
  • Resolve obstacles (parts or capacity related) that arise in assigned departments that threaten on time shipment or full capacity utilization
  • Review Job Packet shortages identified to determine when part is due, address any surprise shortages, decide whether to kit short and make schedule adjustments where shortage will prevent job for starting as originally planned
  • Ensure proper MRP procedures relevant to the scheduling process are followed
  • Review back orders daily to ensure they are completed as recommitted
  • Coordinate efforts with Production Supervisor to ensure effective scheduling
  • Coordinate workflow and ensure job movement between departments or work centers
  • Work with purchasing concerning problem areas and unacceptable delivery dates
  • Create and communicate daily production work priorities/schedules and revisions as appropriate to meet changing customer demand
