About The Position

Responsible for obtaining materials, components and equipment. This role involves coordinating purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels, monitoring the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts, and planning and establishing production schedules while following up on performance against estimates. The position also requires managing planning functions on a day-to-day basis, maintaining inventory records, and conferring with other supervisors to coordinate inter-departmental activities. A key aspect of this role is participating in continuous improvement efforts and supporting the implementation of new ideas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 8 years’ education and work experience; plus experience and knowledge in operations of business.
  • Perform detail-oriented tasks utilizing high language skills and intermediate math skills.
  • Employ good written and oral communication skills
  • Read and analyze complex information.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • APICS or CPM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Check requisitions, obtain quotations, examine bids and awards jobs.
  • Develop new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate.
  • Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels.
  • Monitor the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.
  • Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
  • Identify, define, and recommend issues for quality control.
  • Interpret technical data in mathematical or diagrammatical form.
  • Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Recommend new policies or procedures as necessary.
  • Plan and establish production schedules and follow-up performance against estimates.
  • Supervise assembly of statistical data on demand patterns, usage, etc.
  • Approve process specification and design standards for processes within area of responsibility.
  • Manage planning functions on a day-day basis.
  • Maintain inventory records and requisitions, ingredients/supplies as necessary to meet delivery schedules.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities between departments.
  • Understand and meet or exceed quality standards; seek to minimize error rate.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts. Support and help to implement new ideas.
  • Assist in any and all areas assigned.
