About The Position

Under the supervision of the Healthy Brain and Aging Program Director or designee, this role assists in the planning, development, and modification of Healthy Brain and Aging Program grant activities. The position focuses on the implementation and evaluation of program activities and initiatives, with an emphasis on healthy aging, senior support, and dementia-related activities. The Planner also assists the Program Director in coordinating timelines and activity plans for grant deliverables to ensure accurate execution and grant compliance. This role works collaboratively with all Healthy Brain and Aging staff to coordinate, troubleshoot, and ensure compliance with contractual and departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, health promotion, public administration, or closely related field.
  • Knowledge of planning and programming methodologies.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and ability to perform all aspects of the job as it relates to public health.
  • Ability to work in partnership with others as well as work independently.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of computer programs software and database (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet).
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with the public.
  • Ability to work with confidential client information.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License, comply with State of Texas Driving Laws, and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Employees of Cameron County may be required to work during any natural disaster or emergency, extended hours, and non-traditional work schedules (i.e., Saturdays and Sundays).
  • Criminal background check is required for employment or continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately document all time worked.
  • Develop and maintain planning tools, workflow processes, and implementation strategies to support staff in coordinating senior support, dementia, and brain health initiatives, meeting grant deliverables, and achieving program objectives.
  • Ensure planned activities align with grant requirements, project timelines, and strategic priorities as discussed with the Healthy Brain and Aging Program Director.
  • Review and assist in meeting grant and contractual required activities and processes for existing and future grants.
  • Work with Healthy Brain and Aging Program staff on matters concerning the coordination of program plans, activities, and services.
  • Assist in providing information that supports the completion of work plans, quarterly reports, quality assurance, and monitoring procedures, and guidelines related to Cameron County Public Health, CDC, and DSHS compliance.
  • Provide feedback to the Healthy Brain and Aging Program Director on activity planning and implementation, including problems or barriers identified during the quality assurance and monitoring process.
  • Coordinate and plan program meetings for the Healthy Brain and Aging Program Director and/or other designated staff, as needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and rapport with peers within the program, other departments, and the community.
  • Connect with the Program Evaluator to monitor and assess the implementation and effectiveness of strategic planning and grant-related activities.
  • Organize and maintain a system when conducting and/or assisting in the coordination of special projects.
  • Utilize sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Perform job duties by establishing strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Perform efficient and routine work under minimal supervision and take initiative to complete required activities and delegated duties.
