About The Position

Join the dynamic staff at the Schiele Museum of Natural History in Gastonia, NC for a rewarding job! The Planetarium Program Presenter will assist the education department in carrying out essential programming in the planetarium that fits the mission of the museum to inspire curiosity and understanding of the world!

Requirements

  • Ability to work effectively and productively individually and as part of a team.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and ability to be self-motivated.
  • Flexible scheduling on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Weekend days preferred. Occasional evening shifts required. Around 20 hours per week.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ease and enthusiasm for talking to individuals of all ages.
  • Ability to always interact in a positive and professional manner.
  • Dependability, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and share knowledge with others.
  • Ability to interact with and learn computer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting planetarium programming.
  • Assisting with astronomy themed programming outside of the planetarium.
  • Creating and executing summer day educational content.
  • Assisting Schiele Museum staff with educational event days.
  • Maintaining and organizing materials, and more.
