  • Proficient understanding of mechanical piping systems, connections, and components, including above- and below-ground installation methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret isometrics, P&IDs, orthographics, line lists, piping specifications, and other design drawings.
  • Thorough knowledge of pressure testing requirements under ASME B31.3, and familiarity with ASME B31.1, ASME B31.9, ASME PCC-2, and applicable plumbing and fire protection codes.
  • Knowledge of hydrostatic and pneumatic test practices, including stored energy calculations, exclusion zones, and test safety requirements.
  • Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes, including Standard Work Process Procedures and Bechtel Core Processes related to the area of responsibility.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and Bechtel's Zero Accidents safety program.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractor and direct-hire testing activities on large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to conduct field inspections involving extensive walking around a construction site, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working on elevated platforms and uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with completions management systems and system turnover processes.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including ACONEX, TEAMWorks, Bechtel Productivity System, PTR, eSub, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects.
  • Experience in semiconductor fabrication facilities, including process piping, high purity systems, and specialty gas and chemical distribution.
  • Experience with Advanced Work Packaging and construction work package development.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop pressure test packages for assigned systems, including test boundaries, marked-up isometrics and P&IDs, test pressures and media, line lists, weld and NDE status, and required inspection hold points.
  • Review subcontractor-prepared test packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements before submitting them to the Lead Pipe Testing Field Engineer.
  • Develop area testing sequences and look-ahead schedules aligned with system turnover boundaries and construction and mechanical completion schedules.
  • Support the Lead Pipe Testing Field Engineer in maintaining and improving the project pipe testing program in accordance with SWPP 4MP-T81-03506, project specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Prepare and verify stored energy and exclusion zone calculations for pneumatic tests, and confirm required approvals and safety controls are in place before testing.
  • Coordinate area readiness walkdowns to verify completion of welding, NDE, PWHT, supports, and punch items, and follow up on open items with craft, Quality Control, and subcontractors.
  • Plan area test equipment needs, including test pumps, calibrated gauges and recorders, relief devices, blinds, temporary spools, and test manifolds.
  • Coordinate test water sourcing, quality, and disposal, as well as post-test draining, drying, flushing, and cleaning to prevent corrosion and MIC.
  • Coordinate test witnessing and sign-off with Quality Control, the Authorized Inspector, and the client; resolve test failures, leaks, and repairs with craft and engineering.
  • Verify removal of temporary test materials, reinstatement of instruments, valves, and in-line components, and restoration of systems to their design configuration.
  • Interface with the engineering office to resolve design and constructability issues affecting testing, and prepare field change documentation as required.
  • Maintain area test records, metrics, and status reports; provide progress, forecasts, and quantities to the Lead Pipe Testing Field Engineer, project controls, and construction management.
  • Coordinate with construction turnover and completions personnel to support system turnover, punch list closure, and completion documentation.
  • Monitor subcontractor and direct-hire testing activities for compliance with approved procedures, drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and project safety standards.
  • Complete assigned training requirements.
